Foundation
Surrey Korean School was founded on February 1, 2013, through the dedication and vision of Founder Sung Boon Song. With the space support of Logos Church, the first classes opened under the name “Logos Korean School”. It began with only a few students and parents, but with a vision to go beyond language — to share culture and preserve identity.
Growth Journey
Over the years, the school steadily grew with the space support of local churches:
- Central Presbyterian Church in Vancouver
- Surrey Presbyterian Church
- Currently at Green Timbers Covenant Church
Surrey Korean School has become more than a language school — it is a place where students learn Korean language, history, and culture together, helping them understand their roots and identity. Through the cooperation of teachers, parents, and the community, the school has grown into a warm and inclusive learning community.
Present & Vision
Since June 2025, Principal Byoungho Song has been leading the school, carrying forward the founder’s spirit with passion and dedication. Surrey Korean School is open to anyone interested in learning Korean — children, youth, and adults, including multicultural families and non-Korean learners.
Our Educational Philosophy
- Preserve Minority Language & Culture: Passing on Korean to future generations
- Support Multicultural Families: Strengthening communication across families
- Promote Intercultural Exchange: Open classes for anyone interested in Korean
- Level-Based Learning: Beginner, intermediate, and advanced programs
- Hybrid Education: Combining offline and online classes
- Integrated Cultural Programs: Language, history, traditions, and culture together
Surrey Korean School will continue to be a warm and inclusive community, sharing the value of Korean language and culture within Canadian society.
